If you don’t have brake lights then just tape it off and secure it out of the way.
The red wire is for power supply to the brake lamps if you desire to have those, you can add in a brake switch and connect the brake switch output to that wire.

Got ya, I have brake lights but they are already wired and I am installing separate lights for the turn signals similar to yawood has shown above. Why would you need to have the brake lights connected to the turn signal indicator?

My guess would be that it is something to do with the fact that American cars flash the tail/stop lights instead of flashing a separate amber light like the rest of the world. Does that still happen or was that an old thing? Maybe this allows the flashers to stop if the brake lights are needed.

Just a guess.

Well done with your wiring.

Most carts use the same lamps for turn and brake signal.
The red wire gives power to both rear high lamps when the brake switch is actuated.
If you have separate lamps for brake and turn signals then you can leave the red wire disconnected, or you can connect it to your existing brake lamp switch and have 4 brake lamps instead of 2.
And yes, many US vehicles use the same lamps for brake and turn signal. Most golf carts are the same way because it’s simpler and easier to wire, and because there’s just not a lot of room for multiple lamps on a cart.
