Batteries
My cart is a 48vt cart. I tested my batteries and this is what I got:
#1=8.51 #2=8.43 #3=8.29 #4=8.47 #5=8.47 #6=8.47 Are these decent numbers, or should I plan on replacing them soon? |

Re: Batteries
Here is my guess - You have accessories hooked to the #2 & 3....
They are low when compared to rest of the pack. Am I right or wrong? Also: Each cel is capable of 2.5 volts optimum. So an 8v battery could be as high as 9.5 volts fully charged. And at a reading of 8.0 the battery is considered drained or empty. Consistantly draining them below this mark is damaging. You didn't say whether your batteries were freshly charged or partially discharged? After charging let them sit or settle for 45 minutes and then read them. If you have accessories running from just 2 batteries you might consider moving them to two stronger ones now. |

Re: Batteries
The batteries were freshly charged, but had been sitting for about half an hour or so. The only accessory on the cart is the headlights and taillights, so I guess that may drain some???
Are these readings ok though? I just don't have the cash to go out buy new batteries right now. Getting ready to go to the beach and don't want to get stranded anywhere!!! |

Re: Batteries
You will experience deminished run times on this pack. The 8.29 is beyond the variation I am comfortable with from battery to battery. All of them are showing some age. I can't tell you if you are going to get stranded?
I would recharge the two low ones seperately to try to bring them back up to rest of the pack and then move them to where the lights don't draw on em. It is quite possible you can make it through the season if you do this and monitor their use and condition. |

Re: Batteries
Scotty, If he has accessories hooked to two batteies thats 16+ volts. That voltage will burn lights bright till they blow.
Gsrxfan, do you have a voltage reducer on cart. You can try a battery reviver. I think walmart sells it. I've never tried but have been told it does work for a short while(few months). |

Re: Batteries
I don't know how his lights are hooked? I had bought a set of 8s where the center two had been used for accessories alone and those two showed low voltage like his. I used a 12v charger to hot charge them back up to where the rest of the pack was. It was 6 months before they started to come back down below the rest again. Hope this helps....

Re: Batteries
Your cart is 36 or 48 volts. Can you post a pic of your 12v source?
