When to change upgrade shocks?
I have a 95’ medalist that I’m tearing apart and upgrading controller, solenoid, switch, wheels tires etc. I’m looking at these shocks and wondering if there is some check/test to see if they should be upgraded or changed.

Re: When to change upgrade shocks?
Typically, they are ok until they start leaking oil. They dont live as hard a life as shocks on an automobile.

What’s the benefit in getting the heavy duty ones with the springs over the stock ones. Currently I feel every rock I go over at my ranch and was hoping something could soften the ride

Re: When to change upgrade shocks?
Try adjusting your air pressure in your tires. If you are running them at max PSI, lower them down some as this should help. Too much air in the tires make them harder and will not absorb the bumps.

Re: When to change upgrade shocks?
I agree with lowering the tire pressure. I to run on mostly gravel roads and was getting the same ride you are talking about. Running stock wheels and tires I had the pressure at 20 lbs. Drop it down to 17 lbs just 3 lbs difference but it make a big improvement on my cart.

I have some front shocks from a Jakes LT kit laying in the garage. I need some pics and post them for sale. I will post local first then on here

Re: When to change upgrade shocks?
May also want to check to see if springs due to age are worn out.
Stand on the back of bag well and bounce up and down. Does suspension move? If not springs could be worn out where they have no arch left in them. Lower tire psi along with tires with taller sidewalls help cushion ride. Shocks basically only control dampen the bounce of suspension movement. |

Re: When to change upgrade shocks?
You don’t need no stinking shocks on a golf cart... especially on da ranch... lowering tire pressures is about all you can do... Mine beats the hell out of me with or without shocks if I run it too fast
