Bad armature? Bad motor?
I am having issues with dropping voltage under a load. I pulled motor apart and found this. Could that be my problem?

Re: Bad armature? Bad motor?
While the comutator does show some wear, it actually looks real good for a cart that's nearing at least 20 years old. (I see it's a series motor, and the last series yamaha was the 2002 G16e). And I'll bet yours isnt newer than 1996 (pretty much everyone was selling the "new and more advanced G19e" when it arrived in 1996, after 1996 the G16e was a carryover for the places who were skeptical of "that fancy new technology").
Overall, I absolutely would not suspect the motor as the culprit. It doesnt even look like it's ever even been run hot. All that nice copper color you have turns straw/tan, or purple & rainbows when it's been abused or has shorts that cause heat. It has wear like a plenty used, but pretty well kept old car, only what you would expect, nothing too nasty. While it certainly doesnt look "cooked" , that old timer might be ready for a rebuild (and it totally looks acceptable for a rebuild, as far as I can see) |

Re: Bad armature? Bad motor?
Yes it is a 95 I think. If motor is not an issue then what could be causing my voltage drop?

Re: Bad armature? Bad motor?
I agree the motor is not your issue, But the commutator is pretty worn. A turn and under cut to make it right, but I don't think there would be any material left.
We need a more defined issue, Voltage drop could be deemed normal. whats the cart doing that makes you think there is an issue? |

Re: Bad armature? Bad motor?
It has brand new batteries in it and it will run but after about 50 foot it starts going real slow. Voltage drops to about 40 volts. I have an alltrax sr400, electronic reversing contactors, 2 gauge cables all around, and stock motor.

Re: Bad armature? Bad motor?
The commutator looks pretty bad to me, looks like the brushes were worn and the brush clip was dragging on the commutator.
