You can do what I've done.
Tighten the gov. blow the head Install 350cc motor W/ 285cc head Add oil cooler and 1" shorter belt/ Install MSD Fry the pulsar coil. Still have to fix that last one. But it's fast as hell and I aint done yet |

Re: Speed increase on a '99
If yours came with a 350cc motor there is a 295 complete head on E-bay and the high bid is .99 cent. E-bay item #330354782545.
If you have a 295 then the shorter belt I just installed on my 96 ezgo txt has #10962 and #902 on it. I got it from East Coast Custom Carts. One of the site sponsors. The shorter belt gave me lots of pulling power over a 5 year old stock belt. |

Re: Speed increase on a '99
No, More pulling power.
It ran 29.3 mph by gps before the belt change and 28.5 after but on mine the govenor is inactive and the engine turned more rpms at WOT so I didn"t see much loss at top end. The increase on bottom is great. I live on a farm and going up hills it just wont stop till it flips over backward. It wont pull the hills fast or spin the tires but it wont stop. |

Re: Speed increase on a '99
Do a search in the archives for the shorter belts. They will answer all your questions.

Re: Speed increase on a '99
YES, the shorter belt will increase your low end pulling power but take away a few mph from your top speed. That is always the trade off in any gearing change....belts are part of the gearing equation. Tightening up the govenor spring on top of the transaxle will help you with power and so will taking any slop out of the accelerator cable. Check to see that when the peddle is to the floor that the throttle is wide open....
