Default Late 80's 2 stroke?

Hey guys,

I am looking at buying another cart to replace the POS I bought that is not worth rebuilding.

I am looking at a late 80's 2 stroke the dealer claims that all it needs is a muffler and a coil and it will run.

I am just curious is there anything I need to look out for with these carts? I am new to the cart world and did not have a good first go around so i am trying to make sure this cart works better for me.

Any help and info will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Keith

Take a compression test while cranking in forward and reverse. My 87 still runs great, with 120 psi compression. From what I have read and learned, you will probably find that it is low.

If it's less than 100 psi compression, you will need rings at very least. I love my 89 Cart, she pulls hard. If you don't have a compression gauge, auto parts stores usually have loaners or you put a $20 down and get back your money when you return it...

Thanks guys!

I will make sure to check compression.

If I do run into any issues are the parts fairly easily available? For the price if I can get it running for a couple hundred dollars it would be well worth it.

Thanks

Good running, pay no more than 1k..... not running... uhgggg. If it needs rebuilt, $300 tops.

I started out with an 89 and now have a 97 -4 stroke and I really like my 97 better. Seems that parts are more readily available for the 4 stroke.
