Default Starter/generator question for 91 ez-go

So I have been looking at starter /generators for my cart. Does this need to go both ways or does the battery only charge when going forward? I saw this online and didn't know if it would work.http://www.discountstarterandalterna...cc-engine.aspx

The principle of how the electric motor works is the same no matter which way it turns so yes they charge in both directions.

I guess a better question would be I see the starter has a rotation direction, cw would put the shaft on the left, will it also go ccw when I reverse? Sorry for all the questions, I am just done with charging my battery every night.

cw should be from looking at the pully side, no matter how you hold or place the starter it will be cw looking at the pully. that never changes.
Is this a 2 stroke cart or a 4stroke cart?
