Button Kit installation
My clutch rattles at high RPMs, so I bought a button kit. Does this go on the drive clutch (engine) or driven clutch (transaxle)? Do I need to buy a special tool to remove the clutch or to install the button kit?

Re: Button Kit installation
Welcome to BGW Danny!
First off... there are two button kits, Drive and Driven... Which kit do you have? For the drive clutch, you'll need a drive clutch puller, that you should be able to get from any of BGW's fine sponsors, or... where you got your buttons! And you'll need to compress the clutch together in order to remove the "C" clip. also... the bolt may be reverse thread, depending on the year of your cart, and rotation of the engine. The driven clutch doesn't require any special tools to remove it, but, if it's an older cart, it may be stubborn, and won't come off very easy! You might want to consiter getting a Service and Repair manual for your cart... It sure comes in handy! |

Re: Button Kit installation
Thanks. It is a gas 97 DS. Is that a reverse thread?
The problem sounds like it is coming from the drive clutch, and this is the kit I bought, http://www.cartpartsplus.com/club-ca...utton-kit.html So I'll buy a clutch puller and a service manual. I've got a few other problems that I'm working on. It is backfiring, so I pulled the carb and sprayed it with cleaner. I also adjusted the screw so it doesn't open the butterfly, but it is still backfiring. I have two keys? I need to drain the gas tank to get that black gasket junk out of the bottom of the tank. I guess I need to remove the entire tank and dump it upside down. The list goes on. |

Re: Button Kit installation
Yep! Those are "Drive" clutch buttons! (just ordered some today from CPP, for my buddies cart!)
and Yes... you'll need a clutch puller! a 97 should be a clockwise rotation engine... but for the life of me, I can't remember if it's reverse thread or not! (my 07 is clockwise... had it off last winter... but I can't remember that far back! ) Maybe someone else can chime in, and refresh my memory! |

Re: Button Kit installation
you ca try to go to any hardware store and buy a siphon pump to get the old fuel out of your tank. i got mine at lowes fro 2 bucks, in the kerosene heater area. they also have a battery operated one. most auto stores sell them too. or even boat supply areas do to.
the 2 keys thing, i wouldnt worry about. if one tuns it on, on the dash, it should look like a t, with a simple cut towards the top, or the "t" part. and if yo have another key some one i assumed put another key switch on to deter the fact anyone with 3 bucks can buy a cc key and have a free buggy. if it was back firing after you adjust the carb and cleaned the carb, i would to suggest reseting all the cables and the carb to factory settings. someone could have played with them to get it to go faster! all is good, if you can handle it and do it coorectly. and keep it below the 4k threshold. i will see if i can find the link on here on how to set it back. bring on lists! some of us like them some of us hate them, but you will get a anwser in some form or fashion. after all we all are going wild! |
