What makes it a G8?
Brought my first cart home today. Its mostly all there minus a motor. Just wondering if you guys could help id it. My internet research leads me to believe its a g8. The body looks similar and the suspension tells me its a g8 or newer. I realize this is asking alot without having pics up just asking for things to look for or that one thing that might be unique to a g8 to id it. Just want to be sure before I begin work on it.
I tried posting pics but I guess I'm restricted some way since I'm new. I'll get em up as soon as I'm allowed. How many posts do I need to post pics? One last thing, where is the vin number located. Thanks in advance. Last edited by yamanewbie; 09-30-2011 at 09:57 PM.. Reason: tired |

Re: What makes it a G8?
Go read the G8 club. Many pictures in there. Body and rear suspension are tell tail signs. Or find the vin # on the up right, just in front of the battery.

Re: What makes it a G8?
The 3 link rear suspension is the single unique feature of the G8. Only model to have a 3 link. Here is a couple pictures of mine in its modified state.

Re: What makes it a G8?
OK ran the vin number and now know that it is a 1993 G8. Thanks again Mike Mac. One last question, how many posts do I need before posting pics? Hope I didn't overlook the answer in the faq section.

Re: What makes it a G8?
Finally got it to work!
So about the cart. Picked it up pretty cheap. Its homely looking now but I know it has potential. Plan to do a big block conversion but at the same time it must be golf course friendly. I'm going to have to come up with a way for a really quiet exhaust. Other plans is to power wash it really good to get the frame ready for some rustoleum. Someone spraypainted the body and not very well so thats going to need some attention. I want to build this on a small budget and with some time and elbow grease I'm sure I can get it looking decent. |

Re: What makes it a G8?
Nice project Yama, It looks like someone cut out a cross member, and added another one to the swing arm. Maybe getting ready for a different motor. Looks like its a good start tho.
Yamaha's are fun to work on, your going to enjoy your build!! Good luck, Mike |
