Re: Project
Corrected compression is about 128. Much better, I think. Still haven't figured out a way to check the coil or ignitor without removing them from the running G2 ... and I really don't want to do that if I can avoid it. (If it aint broke .... kinda thing). I'll keep thinking (?) .

Re: Project
I would switch parts. Just mark wires and placement of them.
There is a pick-up coil under the flywheel, you need to ohm, if it measures a measurable number, it is probably ok. If it measures nothing, its probably bad. |

Re: Project
why not get a digital volt ohm meter and compare the readings on the coil to a known good one? do you have the g2 service manual ?, if not see the thread, on page 2-12 it gives the ohms resitance for the coil.

Re: Project
Got a few things for my "to do" list for tomorrow ... Thanks, guys! Now, if only the weather dries up a bit. :-) I've been trying to get out between rain showers, but it seems like the breaks are just a little too short - so I get caught. Oh well -- I grew up in Olympia so I know how to work in the rain, but I've been in the desert for 30 years now so I'm having to get used to it all over again. :-(
Anyway, I'm on my way to getting this cart going... then I'll be looking for plans/designs for a "flip seat" for the back. |

Re: Project
WOW. Next time I'll mention I'm looking for someone to do the jobs for me --- seems like I'm getting almost everything else I'm thinking about! I don't even have to rub the bottle and ask a genii!
Couple questions ... How is the deck/seat attached to the cart? Does it sit directly on the body? Or are there some sort of spacers? And how far does the angle iron extend beyond the body (it shows 22 1/2" to the edge, then extends a couple more inches)? Should be able to figure the rest out. Instead of square tubing I was thinking about aluminum conduit for the arm rests/side boards ... what do you think? (Only because I happen to have some conduit around and not much square tube.) |

Re: Project
Troub, hope I got this right. The seat cushion has "T-nuts" installed in the plywood bottom, (they can be purchased at Ace Hardware, or any hardware supply.) They allow you to bolt, the seat on instead of sheet metal screws (that tear out with all the bouncing that the seat can be exposed to in aggressive driving). I welded washers to the expanded metal where the bolts mate to the T nuts on the bottom.
Here is a picture, these tabs, are how I mounted the seat main frame, to the frame of the cart. Cant weld aluminum to steel, but you can weld conduit. Don't know if I'd use conduit, I've had about 500 # on the back of mine, out in the mountains a few times. You always find new uses for a golf car when you find out how universal these little things are! But you probably already know!! As far as (how far the angle sticks out beyond the body) will depend on body style, and how far the bumper/footrest, sticks out beyond the back of the car.(shorter the better there) |

Re: Project
Thanks, as always. :-) I guess I'll mock-up something out of wood lath/staples just to get the dimensions/angles right. Trying to get everything ready before I start --- to reduce the number of surprises later.

Re: Project
Good moves! I sat and drew pictures of mine, and how I wanted it to look. That told me how to attach it and where possible weak points might be. I'm a cabinet maker, so that works kinda natural for me.
Stuff4Mason, and I had quite a discussion about his seat build. You might go find his seat build thread, for more info. |
