G1 Drive belt re-post
I have an 83 Gas g1. I put on a new belt and clutch spring to help the gearing and love the improvements. I think that tht new belt seems to short. I didnt keep the old belt so i can not reference it. from what i found online is that the belt should measure 36 3/8 in on the out side. the belt i have is this size.
The problem i have is that the belt is tight when not running.. to the point that i can not even push the cart becasue its trying to turn over the motor. the other thing is that i winds up the RPM before it pops into gear and then spils my drink on me, barks the tires and the front tires come off the ground about 3in. This was cool at first but now is getting old. I just broke all 4 motor mounts. it looks like the belt is too short and the it takes too many RPM's to get it to slide over and get pinched between the clutch on the motor. Do i have the wrong belt? Everything I read says i need the 36 3/8 belt. Anyone have any other issues? There is no way this is the correct belt..... Its hard to turn the motor over because it dragging on the front shaft. I acutally moved the motor back about an inch just to get it turn over properly. HELP. |
