Default Govenor bypass....now no start.

I rerouted the pedal cable straight to the carb and now the cart wont start. Last week I got it going with alot of playing with ether and heating the plug. It seems that when it is cold it is flooding. The bowl is clean and float and needle valve is working properly. No holes in the float. When I got it started the last time I shut off the gas to the carb and used starting fluid to get it going and warmed up, then turned the gas back on and off it went. however this time I can only get it to sputter on ether and as soon as I turn the gas on it floods it. The plug is soaked and blacked out. Plug is only a couple months old.

This happened right after bypassing the governor? If so, check to make sure the throttle is opening and closing correctly on the carb in relation to the pedal being pressed. If you hook everything back up to the governor, does it run ok? Sounds like it is flooding itself out if the plug is wet.

Could you possibly have an ignition shutoff switch, that is hooked in to the governor?
Sometimes they don't completely kill the ignition and allow the engine to run, but barely.

I would say you still have a carb. issue. And now possibly a fouled plug!

I agree with mike. You need to tear the carb completely apart and take the needle (at the lower end of the carb) and make sure its clear. This is a tiny hole that can get dirt stuck in it, and you won't even know it.
