Default G1 for snow?

Have a G1 I use around the property. (poor man's Gator). Since I live in Montana and have a icy, long drive to mailbox; I was thinking of putting chains on the rear. But the clearance between the inside of tire and inner fender well looks iffy. Any one ever chain up a G1? If so, How'd it work. Or, anyone have another solution to my snow/ icy traction problem?

lock up rear end, lift and use chains.... Sorry never used chains before but doesn't seem like it would have a clearance issue to me? Somebody more knowing will have to chime in on this one...

Is the cart lifted? If not, you might think about doing that to increase clearance...... for some ATV tires. My Marathon got around pretty good in the snow with a set of 20x11-8 Groundbuster Tires. Several site sponsors have tires available.

My G9 sees lots of use of snow. I have 22x11x10 DURO tires - they have DEEP tread - and have no problem in deep (6-10") fresh powder. Sometimes I do add some weight to the read if going gets too slippery. Cart is raised about 4" so chains in the rear are possible, but so far I haven't needed them.

My g8 is very tight between the leaf spring and the stock tires
but I have a set of lawn tractor chains that work if I keep tight
bungees on the out side

My G9 today. Threw a sheep skin on the seat and headed out after a couple cows running down the road. They belong to a gun about a mile away but I pushed them in with ours for now. Don't want anybody going into a skid to avoid them... then I might have a fence to fix.

Wire hanging from dash in last pic is for a small spotlight plugged into an outlet on the dash. Tires are 22x22x10 DUROs ... they go pretty well and stopping on the snow is kinda "iffy". Well, I stop, but sometimes I'm sideways on the road, sometimes backwards and sometimes it's just plain exciting!

I use my G1's as "poor man's Gators" as well. Locking the rear end, lifting the body and chains are the way to go. You will need to install spacers or use offset wheels to get some clearance between the tires and the fender liners, or the chains will chew up the liners. Here is my Bravo Buggy, 4" lift, 20" tires on 3x4 offset wheels. I had to trim the front of the wheel wells and modify the rear frame for clearance. The Carlisle Super Lug tires work well in soft ground and snow, but are poor on hard ground and ice. The chains make all the difference.

I was out looking at my G9 yesterday -- looks like I'll need some spacers on the back in order to have clearance for chains. I have 3x4 offsets, I think. Trying to decide on 1" or 2" spacers. I don't want to go too wide as I still want to be able to fit it in the back of my Dodge between the wheel wells.
