Thumbs up Best Tach for the money?????

I did search first.....and there are a lot of options...but not all will work with a gas golf cart.

So, is the digital tach for $30 going to work ok....battery powered and just wrap a wire around spark plug WIRE? Or is I better to spend $50 and get one that refreshes faster.

There is also a lot of opinion about not taking the cart over 2700 RPM.

THX!!!!!

I really don't like my Tiny Tach (digital), but you're starting with a better advantage than I had - I wasn't aware of the slow refresh until I installed it.

Someday I'll buy a nicer tach for the cart and move the TT to a small outboard.

As far as revs go, my TT reads 96 hours. I think I installed it on my 2001 cart in 2009. Most of those have been over 2,700, none of those have been over 4150 (limiter enabled).

PIB are you running a rev limitter and still getting 4150rpm? How you do that?

Yes, it cuts-out (no spark) before I see 4,200. I make a point to keep it below 4,000, which is around 20 mph in my otherwise stock cart.

It took about a season to get the feel for it, but now I can accurately guess the RPM by speed and feel. Coasting downhill is the exception - it's hard to distinguish engine vs. gravity sometimes, and an induction tach is no help at all because when the engine is freewheeling or has hit the limiter, there's no RPM display.
