Default In need of some help to get some infomation

I just bought a 1977 HD gas and replaced the top half of the engine and the carb and the reeds. After all that when I start out I have good power and then it reaches a point where it has nothing else. it feels like the belt is slipping. does anyone have any suggestions?

You mean when it warms up it looses power?

Or at a certain ground speed it just won't go faster?

Have you jacked it up and watched the belt to make sure its doing what its supposed to be doing? There could be broken ramps or slides getting it stuck. What is the condition of the belt? Condition of motor mounts?

Have you got a good comparison of another Harley cart or just carts from this era in general to make sure its not actually doing something right?

Jack that sucker up and watch those clutches when you rev. The primary clutch, attached to the motor, should compress a couple inches. Simultaneously, the secondary clutch, attached to the differential, should expand a couple of inches. If either of those clutches arent compressing / expanding right they will prevent your motor from reving up.
