1999 CC regen 2 solenoids and coils
I have a 1999 CC regen 2 cart. My question is...I am replacing almost everything on the cart and I upgraded to 2 heavy duty solenoids with diodes and resistors on each. On my cart, the main solenoid has an "energy displacement coil". Do I need this coil if I am running a resistor and diode on the solenoid? My guess would be yes...but I just wanted to check with people who know much more about these things.

Yes, the diode will preserve the solenoid contacts

So just to be clear...I do not need the coil?

Lets start over, what coil?
Are you asking about the regen solenoid? |

And just so I am clear as to exactly what I am talking about...here's a pic with the old solenoid and coil.

Re: 1999 CC regen 2 solenoids and coils
This is the regen coil. As long as it is in use you need the coil. Some controller installs eliminate the regen solenoid altogether. Search FSIP Regen II

Re: 1999 CC regen 2 solenoids and coils
I have the same set-up with the executioner motor from PQ and a 500amp Alltrax controller...so I will make sure to use it. Thanks for your help ScottyB

Re: 1999 CC regen 2 solenoids and coils
And you were right...apparently the alltrax 500amp controllers gets rid of the regen solenoid also. I was told it was an IQ controller programmed for a powerdrive cart.
Now I am having a bit of a problem bypassing the OBC. I followed a thread from TahoeDawg that explained it very well, only to find out that right after I did it, it was for an IQ cart (involved cutting the harness form the OBC and looping the red and blue wires together). Not sure what to do now Since I effectively have an IQ controller, do I still follow the directions for the IQ OBC bypass? I have your DPI charger, ScottyB...so not sure what to do. Any guidence would be greatly appreciated... The way I had it before was...hooked the black wire coming from the back of the OBC to the negative battery. The charger turned on and seemed to be charging, but kept flashing yellow...like it would not reconize the battery pack. That's why I thought it was wrong and did it the other way. Starting to wonder if that way was correct or not? |

Re: 1999 CC regen 2 solenoids and coils
They only made this drive system for 1 or 2 yrs. I would rather have Tahoe's input on this. I'll ask him to reply.

Re: 1999 CC regen 2 solenoids and coils
I honestly don't know the procedure to bypass the OBC in a Regen2 car.... I'll have to open the old books back out and study them and see what I can figure out... I'll let you know something tomorrow. It may be the same as the IQ, but I can't confirm that at the moment. Did you attempt the procedure for IQ OBC bypass on your cart?
