I agree. I went ahead and had a hitch welded together which I will be able to bolt to the cart frame and also the rear step.

Quick update:

I wound up attaching the harbor freight extension to the cart after having a plate made and welded together. It is attached to both the cart and the step with standard bolts and washers. Working out well so far ...

You'll be fine. I used to use a Precedent to tow a car around my lot and it never missed a beat. The old DS is almost indestructible. Nice setup
