Re: Excell to IQ conversion, What am I getting into?
The harness swap was easy to do, it just takes time to reroute the wires and make them all neat, I have no regrets with the swap. Options for IQ are more available even though the excels are getting better.

Re: Excell to IQ conversion, What am I getting into?
Again, thanks for all of the replies guys. I just got done ripping out the wiring harness and now that I see what it entails, yes, it is not going to be a problem. I know that Tahoe would have taken care of me with any problems anyway just by what I have been reading here on the boards. Thanks for jumping in also Tahoe.
After pulling the old wire harness out I can easily see that there may have been problems in the not to distant future. The harness was not wrapped very well at all going under the mat and some of the wiring insulation was looking very much at risk. So good deal anyway replacing the harness. I purchased this cart used, a 2011 that was tan in color. I am making this into a hunting buggy. I need more torque for a lot of the areas in the club and I have already made some modifications anyway. I camoed the body this past weekend and I think it turned out awesome. I manufactured a bracket for the front wrap around bumper and installed an atv wench, a 6000 lumen combo flood/spot light on the front and have one for the rear after I get done with the controller change out. I also have installed a separate power source for the wench and spotlights. |

Just a thought. if you need a wench to get un stuck, I would think it might be better on the rear so that you could wench yourself back out of what ever you drove into that caused you to need the wench to start with.

Re: Excell to IQ conversion, What am I getting into?
The new wire harness is in, new controller is in and while everything is not all tidied up yet, I did take it for a quick spin to just check it out.
As expected, I didn't see much of a speed increase, wasn't looking for that although I did get about another mile per hour out of it and it may do better on pavement. That was on the dirt road going out to the highway. It may do some better after I hit the pavement with it. So as of right now I have about 20 mph vs the 19 I had. But for the best part, it will bark the rear wheel on hard packed sand. I have the 23 inch tires on it with a 6 in lift kit. Me thinks my torque problems are over with on the hunt club. Thanks David for the help and the sale. |
