Success!! Checked the red wire this morning and it was reading 44.3 ohms end to end. The black and the gray wires checked .1 I put a brand new terminal on red wire, cleaned the green off the other (pin) end, put it all back together and everything works as it should. charger came on, needle went to around 12. Happy Happy happy. I have learned a lot the last few days and im sure i will back seeking help one day.
