Is a 3.5 hp electric motor considered a high speed motor?

Re: club car stopping after short rides
That looks like the stock GE motor for a DS IQ cart.
What controller do you have? It could be the FNR switch failing. After the cart stops when you are having the problem, If You cycle the FNR to reverse, does the controller activate the reverse buzzer and/or runs in reverse? You really need to replace those two cables on the motor with a single one back to the controller. Use two wrenches when disconnecting the motor cables. |

Ok so I replaced the burnt wire. Rode it till the batteries died on me. Never cut off but motor still got hot. I'm going to replace the wires from motor to controller where I'll have 1 wire not 2. Should I go with a 4 gauge wire? Not sure what type of controller I have. The golf cart will run 28 mph with the factory motor.

Re: club car stopping after short rides
Yes, 4ga is all you need for a Sepex motor.
You should consider replacing all of the cables. Not a good idea to run the batteries until they die or they will remain dead one day. |
