Re: Battery distance
As a kid I worked many courses in the cart barn. It wasn't uncommon to run carts 36 holes a day, and on really busy days with early morning and late evenings a cart could see 45 holes.....though that was pushing it. The average distance on a course from the last 5 years data suggest courses running a tad over 7000 yards. Take that 7000 yards, plus distance between holes, you find your cart running about 5 miles at the course. (give or take based on the course) Then add to that the weight of two men and two bags full of clubs, and take into consideration the condition of the tires, cables, alignment etc and I'd imagine that the average cart could run 15 miles on a good batteries if maintained properly without issue. Two of the biggest problems I see are people buying cheap batteries (and the wrong ones) and automotive cables (which will melt posts all day long) The bottom line with carts is the same as anything else in life....you get what you pay for. If you buy the cheapest toilet paper, expect a raw arse. If you buy lower end batteries, expect lower distance and lifespan. (and by the way, I'm not directing this at the OP, just making the point) It's amazing the things people cheap out on sometimes......like where can I get the cheapest brake job on my car???? Do you really want the cheapest part on the vehicle that you run 70mph in when you find yourself in the position of needing to stop on a dime? lol, I think not!
