I agree you need to keep looking but now you know more.
I would think that mean it is cabled wrong. |

Switch the A & D leads until the Beeper sounds when the lever is in R.
Then switch the B & C leads until the cart goes backwards in R. |

According to the schematic:
A goes to B+ terminal on controller B goes to S1 C goes to A1 D goes to S2 That should be the starting point. |

This is a new to me cart that was not running at all. I replaced all of the cables and just got it running.

Did you make sure the wires are hooked up like johnnieb said? It sounds like you just need to make a cable swap either at the FnR or the motor...

Although after looking at it, JohnnieB are you sure those wire patterns are right because my series cart is totally different and it runs normal. My 2004 series wires are as follows....
A to B+ on controller B to S2 C to A2 D to S1 |
