I would check with each golf course. I am an avid golfer and play about 70 rounds per year on lots of different courses. I don't think that I have seen a non course owned cart on a course in a bazillion years except for courses that have surrounding houses that allow the members to drive their carts to the course. Those carts are often noticeable because of different body colors or some other add ons but I don't recall ever seeing one of those that didn't have the "normal" OEM turf tires.

Besides wanting to protect the golf course turf there are other reasons courses don't want other carts on the course. Number one is income. Most courses like many other businesses have seen a substantial revenue decline in recent years. They have a substantial investment in either cart leases or purchases and want you using their carts. If they do allow personal carts you will probably be charged a "trail" fee. Also many courses have limited parking and don't want a bunch of trailers taking up parking spaces.

That makes sense to me. I have narrow tires that will not support the weight of my cart on soft ground without leaving an imprint.

Maybe if I were to visit a course that already had strict policy to keep all carts on the path?

The definition of the game of golf is told best by Robbin Williams...

Public Courses - probably not

Semi Private - possibly

Private - depends on membership, but if your playing a private club - you already know the answer

Always call ahead - many memberships don't want to see a bunch of jalopies on the course - also need to verify they don't drip oil, fluids, etc.
