Default Headlight, tail light, state of charge meter wiring help

I am "remodeling" an old 1991 marathon electric that i picked up for the lake. I need to know how to wire the head lights and tail lights through a switch, and how to wire the state of charge meter so it is not "always on". can i wire the state of charge meter through the key? Can i ground the tail lights to the frame and just run the positive up to splice in with the headlights? The tail lights i bought are LED and I am not sure how to ground them since they are designed to be self grounding to the frame, but I have them installed in the rubber/plastic rear end of my cart. Help please. wiring diagrams a plus.

The head and tail lamps must have their own dedicated ground back to your 12v power source. If you wish to turn the SOC meter off, simply run the hot wire through a rocker switch.

Do not ground anything to the frame. All grounds must tie back to the 12v negative.

You can wire the SOC via the key switch. Jump from the 36v off the key switch over to the SOC.

how do i "jump from that do i need to splice into that line? another thing i ran into is that i wired the tail lights up to the head light in front of the rocker switch. dont know where i went wrong but one way the headlights turn on and than i switch it down and the tail lights turn on??? is there a simple wire diagram i can follow to get them to work properly. I have no idea where i am going wrong. headlights went in fine and worked. than i put tail lights in ran ground back to splice in with head lights than ran positive back and spliced in before my rocker switch, yet i only get headlights on one side and tail lights on the other??? Help!

Sounds like a DPDT switch. Put both the head and tail lamps on the same pole of the switch.

i am doing that and getting the same result, something must be backwards? The tail lights are led lights so i rigged one pole to go to the negative on the batteries and the other one is the one getting tied into to the positive side before the rocker switch. dont know what to do at this point. if anyone has any kid of diagram maybe that wll help

OK! grounded it to a different battery (true ground) and got it to work. I still need some explaining on the state of charge meter and having that tied into the key. can someone put that in general terms so i can understand it? thanks!
