For once in something I posted the voltage was not a typo. We will actually be over volting the 192 volts worth of AGM's with 3 -36 volt chargers and 2 - 48 volt chargers in series for 204 volts total. Here's a pic of the charger cart. I haven't added the second 48v charger to the mix yet. The top shelf has my 2 Quick Charge chargers (1-48v 1- 144v) used for charging the regular cart and maintaining the drag cart batteries. The other shelves contain the chargers in series for charging at the track. I made up extension cords to conmnect to the carts. Everything is on Anderson connectors so it's a super simple deal.

I can't seem to ever make a post without a typo. I'd hate to break a string.

Smell check is obviously a foreign concept to me.

I don't know about chargers, but if the shop has a long run from the main fuse box and has minimum wire size(( a very common mistake because of expense at time of construction)) there can be large voltage drops. Will that effect the chargers?

Good point DOOm. Seems like it would affect the output of the chargers but not sure.

The service manuals for several of the ferroresonant transformer type chargers state that the initial current output is dependent on the AC voltage.

IIRC, My "Kill-A-Watt" power meter tells me my 36V PW-II draws about 9A @ 124VAC when it is putting out 20A.

If started together, two of those would probably load down the wiring found in a typical 20A circuit these days, but it shouldn't.

For my set up, I have done about all that I can to minimize the current drop. I made a dedicated cord to plug into the 30 amp 240 volt twist lock plug on my 9500 watt generator and then split it into 2 - 120v circuts so I can plug the chargers directly into that at the track.
