A clamp on AC/DC probe may give you some strange readings because it really isn't AC or DC. It is Pulse Width Modulated DC and with the inductive load of the motor and some other things, the wave-shape is pretty strange.
I tried using an Equus 3347 AC/DC probe a few times and couldn't get any consistent or repeatable readings while the cart was moving and I had it taped in place with a mile of duct-tape. Setting still, it reads the battery charging current spot on when compared to a resistive shunt type invasive ammeter. |
