Model number
Newbie guy here... I currently have two carts. A 1996 Yamaha G-14, and an E-Z GO Electric.
I haven't been able to find out anything from my net searches regarding the E-Z Go cart. The Serial number is: 270090, (year is a 1990?) and manuf. code is: J2082. The Electric motor is bolted perpendicular to the rear axle, and the throttle reostat (spelling?) is a odd sorta thing... with copper contacts mounted upwards in an arch and a sweeper arm that moves up across the contacts to increase the current to the motor. It doesn't have a smooth start off, as it hits that first contact and starts to go... the cart does have a decent top speed though! Any help with the model / type, and information regarding a possible upgrade for the power controller would be appreciated. ~Larry |

Re: Model number
I suspect you have a 1982 Marathon with a Resistor type drive system (J2082)
The resistor coils are located behind the driver side battery box. Here is a schematic of the drive system with the high current path highlighted. It can be converted to an electronic speed control type drive. Carts Unlimited has kits: http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Scotty...rsion_Kit.html |
