4 Pin lithium club car charger HELP
Hello all
I Recently picked up a 2020 Lithium Ion Club-Car Tempo with the vanguard battery pack that did not come with a charger. Battery has around 32V or so and I cannot seem to find a charger for it anywhere. Has anyone converted this 4 pin plug to the 3? Or know a way to get this thing to charge in the meantime? I want to get it charged up asap to save the battery. |

Re: 4 Pin lithium club car charger HELP
If that is a true voltage it seems very low and I would be concerned that battery is not damaged. Someone else will chime in but over discharging can swell lithium cells and become a fire hazard. At the very least when you charge move out side or constantly supervise, I would hope club car has a BMS that protects but....

You need to use the real 4 pin charger. The extra pins are for CAN bus communications which are needed by the BMS.
As stated that pack is very low, does the cart even turn on? Do you still hear the clunk of the internal contactor when you turn the key? Best to get a real charger ASAP. |

Re: 4 Pin lithium club car charger HELP
At 32volts, this 14s pack would be 2.28volts/cell average. Some cells could be lower. This is below the standard discharge limit of 2.5volts for 18650 NMC cells. So it wouldn't surprise me if the BMS is in protection mode and won't allow charging even with the real charger.
Could explain why someone sold the cart so cheap and without a charger. I repaired one a while ago with a failed BMS, but the cells were still within spec. |

Re: 4 Pin lithium club car charger HELP
****UPDATE****
2022 Factory Lithium Clubcar Tempo My cart would have the reverse buzzer and the battery light would flash. No sound of solenoids working and the cart would not move. Charger would charge for 10 seconds at first and then stop and eventually would not try to charge at all but the battery light would flash like it was dead. THE FIX FOR MY CART: Some squirrels decided it would be a good idea to make a home behind the dash and chewed the black wire off the key ignition!! This wire must have some control over the charger/battery pack for the CAN system to communicate. So far all is good and my cart is charging and now works! |
