![]() After fighting with this 2 cycle I am begining to wonder if the valves are out of adjustment if that is possible or not. I can run the cart and watch the butterfly on the carburetor and see that it is closing all the way when I let off the gas but the cart still backfires if you start to ease into the throttle again. Could this be a valve problem and if so how do I adjust the valves. Thanks

![]() if you do have a 2 cycle? more then likely the carb needs to be cleaned.

![]() Well first off, 2 stokes don't have valves so you will have a hard time adjusting them. Have you checked your compression with a gauge? You might also check your micro switch on your accelerator pedal. I had an issue on mine, the engine wouldn't run correctly and it ended up being the micro switch killing the ignition.

![]() Is the butterfly going back by itself or is the cable pulling it back? To correct my backfire problem I turned the key off and pushed the gas peddle to the floor. With the peddle to the floor I slid the stop and the spring tight against the butterfly. This will force the butterfly closed and stop dumping fuel into the exhaust. It worked for me (good luck).
