The only 8V golf cart battery that is bigger than a Crown CR-190 is a Trojan Ranger 160. Attached is a list of 48V battery pack. 8V batteries are in blue.

I have no idea which batteries were replaced. I just know they were larger physically bc of where the nut on the battery hold down is. Do I need to continue investigating the charger algorithms to find out why they are charging to only 93%. Thank you all for your help.

are ALL the batteries new?
if one of them is defective then that could be a factor.

Yes they were all replaced at the same time. I haven't checked individual battery voltages yet.

If six 8V batteries were replaced with six 8V batteries, and the six replacements are Crown CR-190 batteries, the cart has pretty close to the maximum storage capacity (range) that can be obtained with a 6 x 8V battery pack.

Yes, make sure the charger is set to the right algorithm for CR-190 batteries, but also check for excessive resistance in the wires and cables in the charging loop.

The batteries are being charged in series, so the voltage the charger sees is the sum of ALL the voltage drops in the series loop. The cables and connections have resistance and whenever amps flow through a resistance a voltage is developed across that resistance. If the resistance of the cables and connections is excessive, the voltage actually placed on the batteries while charging is reduced accordingly and may effect how fully the batteries are charged.

Thanks Johnnyb. I have not had a chance to dig into this thing yet. Deer season went out yesterday so now I can bust it apart and figure it out. I'll post findings when i find them.

Ok. Every battery showed 8.32-8.33 volts after the charger was disconnected for 12 hours. 49.9 pack voltage. The resistance on all the cables is good. All battery water levels are good also. So the charger is only charging to 80%. How about I just pull the delta q out and use an offboard dpi accusense from scottyb. Would this not have to be the charger causing this? Does the delta q have a float mode? Thanks guys.

Was the charger indicating 100% charge (Steady green LED) before being disconnected?

Personally, I prefer off-board chargers and the DPI is one of the best, if not the best.

It sure seems like a bad charger. Charging the batteries with the DPI will prove it one way or the other.

The Delta-Q Quiq 912-4800 does not float charge, however the attached brochure indicates it has a "Maintenance" mode. The charger is supposed to come back on when the voltage drops lower than 2.1VPC (Volts per Cell), which would be 8.4V for an 8V battery, or 30 days, whichever comes first.

Since the batteries are >8.4V, the charger ought to be running. Not looking good for charger health.

Yes. Charger and dash gauge showed full charge. The cart sits from April til October without much use. I even connected the charger back and it ran its cycle and showed full in about 5 min after reconnecting. I believe that is what I am going to do. Will scottyb program the charger or does it even need it.
