Re: Cant find the knocking
Well seeing as how I can't find any other source of the noise I will go ahead and order the clutch tool and start digging I don't want to have to a place the motor yet so I guess it's time to get dirty.. I'm sure I will have some questions through this project but is there anything I need to watch for when pulling it apart?? Like flying pieces parts?? Haha

Re: Cant find the knocking
Just drain the oil before removing that side cover, but there should be no flying parts to worry about. When you get in there, rotate the motor by hand and see if you can duplicate the knock and ID it. My guess is that your crank journal is egged-out and the rod is loose on the crank like so many other KF82 motors. Post up pictures if you can. I'll help you where I can with info. I have the shop manual.

Re: Cant find the knocking
Motor is on the bench now I just have to wait for a clutch puller... now it looks to me like I can pull the side case off without having to remove the head and the jug is this true or do I need to just take the whole thing apart??

Re: Cant find the knocking
Once the clutch is off you can remove the side cover to access the crankcase. I'd leave the jug in place for now. Can you make the motor knock by spinning it by hand?

Re: Cant find the knocking
Here is what I found everything seems to be in place and all together but there is play in I'm guessing the bearing on the fly wheel side and there is play where my finger is pointing in that same position if you hold the motor and wiggle the shaft not much but at this point it's all I can see any thoughts
