Okay I'm losing my mind. I installed the new fuel lines, filters and new carb. Runs like a bat out of hell in reverse from a cold start but in forward it's a dog until I drive about 1/4 mile then it runs good. I'm officially lost.

Okay so the timing is good but still it is having a hard time starting from a dead stop. I can be warmed up and running great. Then you stop completely and then start again but the engine takes 10 seconds to start and get up to speed. From the list of probable causes from a hard to start engine ( according to the manual ) I've come up with three potential causes.

1. Bad Crankshaft seals (I have a hard time believing that this is the case since I just rebuilt the motor, yes seals included.

2. Fuel pump diaphragm rupture. I pulled the fuel line off and it seems to be pumping fuel nicely.

3. Weak ignition coil.

Any thought/bets?
