Thanks. I'll price it out n see if he wants to order 1 or see if I can find a used 1. You seem pretty knowledgeable with golf carts. If you had an older cart like mine but it had NO wiring in it at all and just a motor. What electronic system would you go with if you had a choice and why?

This whole thread is about my cart (1990 DS resistor cart) but I was wondering if it didn't have any wiring in it or all my wiring was bad what electronics would somebody who knows about carts upgrade to.

All resistor coil carts are series drive. The other kind of drive system is sepex drive. If you want to keep your series motor convert to solid state & simply upgrade to 48v for the best results. If you want to make it sepex convert to solid state, change the motor, and go to 48v.
It is simpler and cheaper for you to do the following in this order,
The cheapest is A
A: put the cart back the way it was. Find old resistor coil parts and rewire.
B: convert to solid state at 36v for now and go 48v later.
C: Convert to sepex drive 36 or 48v.
More reading here about upgrading series and sepex carts.

yea i've done some work on carts
i am very good at the ds carts

like scotty b says it is a matter of money
his advice is always the one i would follow

if it were mine i would go with his plan B
it is the best option for a good cart and you can do 48v latter
about $800 + batteries & cables

your DS
would need
upgrade ...$800
batteries ... $500
cables ... $30
seat covers ... $65
windshield ... $88
tires and wheels ... $160
trailer hitch ...$30

note : these are my prices i can get in Florida
