89 Marathon 3pg backfired and died
Hey everyone its been awhile. Had the cart finally alive and running. Motor rebuilt in fall, starter/gen rebuild, solenoid, wiring, battery, voltage regulator etc etc... It was running fantastic for awhile for a few months. Recently, I was driving it around the neighborhood just burning up fuel for 15 minutes. I was on a flat part of the street at a higher throttle. It was running strong then it backfired loud and had smoke coming out. Got it to keep going with half power lost to limp it back home. Added fuel and tried getting it fired up then it struggled to turn over then ran and drove a few hundred feet only to not start again. It would try to start then just puff out smoke. Did I blow the crank seals?

You should be able to see the crank seal behind the drive clutch. That one is pretty easy to see and replace.
