Default 90 ezgo wont stay running without choke

Hey all,

done a few things to the golf cart

1. new fuel pump
2. new fuel lines
3. removed oil injector
4. cleaned gas tank and new gas with 1 oz 2 stroke oil per gallon
5. put new carb on , but it not sending gas to cyl and just leaking out of carb, so put old carb back.
6. new head and cyl gasket and exh and intake gasket.
7. new choke cable
8. cleaned all electrical contacts

Rings and cyl and everything looked good.

Now its all back together, and the cart runs but i have to feather the choke out to keep it running. i tried turning out the air fuel mix screw , but same result.

so cart will start and go with full choke, then if i let go of choke i go about 20 ffeet or so then the engine starts to die and just goes really low rpms and cart doesnt go, then if i pull and hold choke about half way it revs back up and we go. i have to constantly adjust the chuck with my hand and hold choke about 50% to keep kart running.

any ideas? should i turn out the airfuel screw more? its out about 1 3/4 turns.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

After doing all of that work, I'm really wishing that you would have replaced the crankshaft seals too.

Oh well. First step now is take the carb apart for a good cleaning. Not just a soaking either. An honest cleaning with a small wire in every orifice. Take the needle out. Remove the center stem.

You can adjust it all day long. It won't do anything

I will take it off and do that. the head gasket was bad on it , it was squirting gas out between the head and the cylinder so all that work was neccessary anyway. however i wish i did know about those gaskets as i would have done them also.

i will pull the carb this week and do that and post my results.

thank you
dave

Are you getting enough fuel to the carb? Sounds like it's too lean. Pull the fuel line from the carb and crank it, see if you have decent fuel. Might have an issue with fuel delivery.
