Rebuilt ezgo only does 10mph.
Good evening guys, this is my first post on here so forgive me if i did it incorrectly. I have a 1985 ezgo 2pg. I rebuilt the top end and put a new fuel pump and carb on it. It has the HEI kit on it as well. Cart runs good but will only do about 10 mph. Currently running 50:1 mix in it for break in. Should i expect more out of it or is this about all they do. Thanks

Did you read this thread? I don't know if these are the same symptoms you're having.

Re: Rebuilt ezgo only does 10mph.
It's running, so you must have put the piston in the right way. Side port facing the intake.
Jack up the rearend, and watch the clutch operation. Drive clutch should squeeze tight so the belt rides all the way up. Driven clutch should open up so the belt drops all the way down. Floppy wobbly plates are not good. |

Re: Rebuilt ezgo only does 10mph.
try reversing the 2 wires from the engine to the HEI - for some reason in about 50% of the HEI conversions that exactly follow the diagram, the cart runs like p**p until You reverse those wires. It's an easy fix if it works, and it won't hurt to try.
