48 volt EZGo elec problems

I recently bought a cart that didn't work and I am in need of advise and help if possible. 1 the cart is a 2012 EZGo 48 TXT. The story starts as this; guy said it worked last fall and then put away for winter. When he tried using it this spring it would not work or charge according to him. He bought 6 new 8 volt batteries and still no good so he sent the controller off to be rebuilt. Still didn't work so he bought a new solenoid and installed it but when he did, I think he started to hook up wires wrong which burnt the cables some. At this point he was frustrated, pretty bad health so he gave up. I bought the cart after checking all the batteries which check out good. I replaced all the battery cables and confirmed the wires are connected correctly to the best of my knowledge. I have taken some tests on voltage and I'm getting full reading on both sides of the solenoid and at all the wires coming into and leaving the controller. Also I have made sure the wires weren't burnt anywhere and the switch was in go and not tow. I get no beep or sound when I switch to reverse either.. Where else should I check or test. Any help or advice is appreciated..I'm pretty mechanically inclined but carts are a new thing for me so no experience with the components or operations of these things. Thanks
