Default TXT Front Axle Swap... What happened?!?!

We had our stock 2000 TXT front axle re welded 6 months ago and it snapped again. So, rather than saving money with an aftermarket axle, we decided to purchase a new axle from EZGO using our serial number to make sure fit would be right. Well, it is, except for the large holes the rod that holds the spindles to the frame goes in.... The holes are to small... They are closer to 3/4" where the old one has 7/8" holes... What gives?? The cart is stock but we are not the original owners. Could the spindles be aftermarket as well as the frame we thought was original?! I have emailed and left msg for EZGO but closed on weekends. We thought about drilling the holes out bigger but surely would not be ideal... What should we do? Thanks for any insight! A weekend on the ranch without our cart has been miserable!!! LOL

E-Z-GO switched to metric hardware. Holes on the older carts were SAE and the newer ones are metric and a bit smaller. Rather than switch to metric hardware, which will be too small for the original SAE holed spindles, it's better to drill the metric holes out to match the SAE hardware that you have. Don't make the holes bigger than the hardware or you'll introduce play into the suspension.

So we should just drill them out?? Or is there an aftermarket axle that would bolt right on?? Is this why the aftermarkets are sold out in most stores online??? LOL I'd hate to drill them out, cause that extra play in the spindle and unable to return to EZGO for refund... Thanks for the help!

Bump, anyone know where I can order one that will fit the older original spindles? I do not want to drill the metric one out and accidentally mess it up! LOL

You would need one for an older TXT. Maybe find a used one from someone that put in a different axle. E-Z-GO sells the newer ones, as you now know.
