98 ezgo txt gas
I'm not sure what happened but the last 2 days my card just got extremely fast. All I've done is change my battery and put on new brass battery connectors. It's a Robin 295cc motor. Its always ran around 20 mph on flat ground but now it's running 29 according to my GPS.

Re: 98 ezgo txt gas
LOL, now that's a good sales pitch for that battery!
But the battery had nothing to do with the increase in speed. Sounds like, maybe the governor stopped working. |

Re: 98 ezgo txt gas
Yep that's exactly what happened and my motor started making a little clicking noise then it got louder and louder then bam it turned into a clatter. It's so loud you can hear it a mile away. I'm not sure what I busted but the motors toast. What's it cost to repair or replace the Robin 295cc engine?
Can you put the bigger 350cc in this 98 txt cart? |

A complete 350cc will bolt right in, but make sure you sort out the governor before you run it LOL. Cant advise on the cost as i am in the UK.

Re: 98 ezgo txt gas
I don't know what your mechanical ability is.
But if it was me, I would take that engine apart and see what came apart! Most likely its a rod knock. You can take the short route, clean up the crank, new rods and a gasket set and have it back for $150. I done a mostly complete rebuild last year. both rods, pistons, rings, valves, valve seals. all 5 bearings inside engine, oil pump cover, oil and filter. cost around $450 The only special tools needed for the rebuild will be a cylinder hone and a torque wrench. If you keep looking, may take awhile, you can probably find a used 295 or 350 that someone is replacing with a big block for $250-$350 If you do go the used route I would be interested in buying the head from your old 295. |

Re: 98 ezgo txt gas
BTW, I personally would not do the rebuilds you will find on places like E-bay!!
They only replace the part that are bad or broken at the time of disassembly. ie, one piston or one rod. That's a patch job not a rebuild! So you end up with a engine that still has lots of use parts. |

Re: 98 ezgo txt gas
E-bay is ok for parts, just the guys that sell refurbished engines I would stay away from.
I mean if your going to build it, its worth doing it right and not having a different part fail next year! Good luck |
