Workhorse (?) needs attention
Boy do I have questions!!
I think what I own is a '90 workhorse. Her Serial# is 588692, and her Mfg code is E1490. She is camo wrapped with a bed (not dump), pretty chrome wheels, hitch, front bar grill. I'd post pics, but that would entail offering a glimpse of the chaotic garage. She is my helpmate with fencing and feeding ... and going to get the mail. I'd like to know exactly what I have so I buy the right parts. I'm afraid I've neglected her from ignorance. She's not felt well (drop in power) since abuse from a now absent roommate. They took her for long rides when I was not here ... nothing obvious, but she's not well. I had the carb cleaned, but the throttle is now loose and wiggly when I pull it out. I cannot tell that it is opening/shutting. Today I replaced the ignition switch. This summer, she stopped starting at all. Now she turns over, but does not .... engage? No movement fwd or back, and the garage begins to smell like varnish. I am pretty sure I need to drain the gas and replace the fuel filter. Best method? There will be other issues ... but movement is the priority now! :-) Thank you all for being patient and using smaller mechanical words & pictures for the Girl Mechanic. Yeah, sounds like some much needed TLC is in order for your cart. Seems as though you need to clean the carb, replace the fuel filter and flush the old fuel from the tank and lines.
Do you have much experience with working on fuel systems or mechanical items? |

Re: Workhorse (?) needs attention
My late hubby was the Head Mechanic ... I am the gofer
Now I am learning on the job. :-) I know when I am over my head ... fuel filters and spark plugs are in my comfort zone. I grew up driving older ford trucks and could do the tune ups ... and relied on my Chilton!!! |

Re: Workhorse (?) needs attention
Ok, you should be good then! Here is a video from youtube, you might find helpful. If not, he has many other videos on his channel.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYfjFpHSQvc I would start with flushing the gas tank, fuel filter should be ok since you recently changed it, and clean the carb very well. |

Re: Workhorse (?) needs attention
Ha! Yeah, I have the same attention span! Honestly that was just the first video of his I ran across that specified ezgo and 2 stroke. He has shorter videos that may be better for your attention span. It's just easier for me anyway, to watch a video of how to do things, than it is to go off of what someone types out.Plus, I have very little experience with working on 2 stroke engines, so I may not know of possible differences. Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask more questions!
