72VDC to 12VDC Reducer

Forgive me for being so dense, still trying to understand. So, you have twelve 6 volt batteries and are tapping into 2 of them to provide 12 volts to the key switch.

Is this right?

No, I have 2 carts; a 48v cart (8 6 volt batteries) and a new 72v cart (6 12 volt batteries). I am adding a 72v to 12v reducer to the new cart and my OP was asking where should I connect the reducer's control wire. I was using my 48v cart's reducer as a reference. The control wire on 48v cart gets 12v from the key switch which is fed from 2 of the 6v batteries.
