Default Replacing 4 12 volt batteries for 6 8 volt

Buddy at work has a 2014 ezgo has the 4 12volt batteries he wants to replace with 6 8 volt batteries. I know the voltage is fine is there anything that might have to be co figured with the controller or will the system read the new batteries as it did the 4 12s. Cart is all stock components battery supplier is offering cheaper prices on the 6 8s. Thanks guys.

A 48V battery pack is made up of twenty-four 2V cells, which are typically packaged 3 to a box (6V battery), 4 to a box (8V battery) or 6 to a box (12V battery) and the controller, motor, charger and other electrical components don't know the difference.

The battery tray for a 6x8V is different than the battery tray for a 4x12V, more interconnecting cables are needed, 6x8V has more runtime and weighs more, but everything else is same.

Ok thanks. I told him the tray may need to be modified but wasnt sure if system would read a different resistance during starting checkout. Thanks for your help I'll let him know.

The tray in RXV is plastic so not sure you can modify it. I ordered the aluminum one online carried it straight to steel fabricator and had him copy it and make me one out of stainless steel.

I don't think the plastic tray can be safely modified to hold 8v Batts, too much structure will be removed. The correct tray for 8v is metal, and not too expensive.
