Default need some clairification

I thought I read in a post that the black ground pigtail wire off the negative cable was to be connected to something. I cannot find that post and do not remember what it hooked to. Can someone clear this up for me?

Without a color code on the wires that does me no good. I did find this today but have no clue what it is supposed to be connected to. I pulled the tape off the harness there at it thinking I could find it but no go. Anyone have an idea?

That was a pic of the harness below the battery at the Y where one comes from the front middle and one from the side meet together. That wire is on the motor side of the Y. The wire is a kinda pinkish faded red color and it is laying there on the muffler.

I really could use a wider shot of this area but I think that red/white wire goes to battery positive
