Motor upgrade\Rebuild Suggestions
Looking for recomendations on what to do with the motor. The current motor is an Advance DC Motor Inc, part number A95 4005A. Looking to get a bit more speed out of it currently runs 14, slows on hills. Seems to have some good torque when I hit the trottle from a stop. Initially I was thinking a Plum Quick Bandit rebuild but I am open to ideas. Should I get a different motor, a different rebuilder, or upgrade the controller? Tring to keeps cost down so I motor, controller combo is out of the question I am rebuilding a 2002 txt 36V, new batteries T105 will be lifting with 23s that I already have. Basically just riding around the neighboorhood.

Then I added a PQ Cobra motor (a friend is unhappy with the Bandit) and it's insane. On 25" tires I can hit 26.5 by myself on flat road. It's gonna be nuts when I go 48V |

Re: Motor upgrade\Rebuild Suggestions
Sir Nuke,
Thanks for the information, not looking to get into the 25mph range, more like 18. Plum Quick states that the Bandit rebuild will give me the speed I am looking for with stock controller\solenoid. So with limited funds I am trying to figure out motor or controller and which would be the best bang for the buck. Either would still set me up for future upgrades. Lots of great experience here to help me decide. |

Re: Motor upgrade\Rebuild Suggestions
It is a quandary. The performance motor may be better than stock but it cannot perform to it's potential with the stock controller. Potentially it may shorten the useful life of the stock controller, solenoid, and F&R switch simply by drawing additional amperage.
Most everybody agrees it is best to upgrade the amperage supply first before increasing the amperage draw (motor) |
