New batteries already dying fast?

I had a problem a couple months ago with our old batteries and a couple awesome guys on here lead me to believe they had bad cells, which they did! Since then I have all new batteries they are US2200 batteries "36v". I also bought a digital meter gauge from cartsunlimited.net. which I highly recommend them and that guage! Now the problem is that the cart can fully charge over night but within getting about a half mile out of it the cart drops to 32+33 volts. When we bought the batteries they lasted for ever stayed at 35 volts after many drives on it through out the day. When I put the batteries in I cleaned all the residue from the cables and put battery gel and protect on.
So how could they possibly die so fast when they are only about a month old? Any thoughts or opinions are much appreciated! Thanks guys!

Measure the individual battery voltages. Sounds like one is failing under load.

New battery are less likely to fail, but it does happen.

Here is a SoC charge for US Battery. They have a bit higher voltage at 100% than most other brands.

Thanks johnnieb if one is failing underload what do I do? Would batteries have a warranty?

Contact whoever you got them from.
Should have a 1 year prorated warranty.

So I checked charge under load in each battery cell when the total charge was only 32 volts. Each battery is low equally at about 5.4 volts per battery. So there is not a single faulty battery. I called the golf cart repair shop I bought the batteries from and they believe the actual charger is bad as I told them the total charger only gets up to 36.2 volts per a pack. She said they are supposed to reach to a full charge of 42. I do have a digital meter on the dash that shows an estimate of voltage. Any thoughts on how to check the charger or is this true that they are supposed to be 42v?

The voltages listed on the SoC chart I posted came directly from US Battery. Attached is the actual chart e-mailed to me by Fred Wehmeyer, Senior VP - Engineering.

The At-Rest voltage (neither charged nor discharged for about 12 hours) ought to be approximately 38.5V.

Also attached is the charging recommendations from US Battery.
The On-Charge voltage at termination is higher the 42X for every type charger listed.

What is the Make/Model of your 36V charger?


The charger may be bad, but the battery info you got from the cart repair shop is less than accurate.

Upon walking out in the garage this morning I noticed the charger was still on it never shuts off. The power on the voltage meter on the dash still reads 36.2v

Double check to make absolutely sure that one of the batteries didn’t get installed backwards (surprisingly easy to do) then prepare to repair or replace that charger because you should be able to stand there and watch that DVM climb when you plug in that charger
