Default Gas Shift cable adjustment

so the other day i was having issues with my shift cable since i had to take it part to install my big block kit, i had it close but my cable was old and its been outside in the weather for months now and the cable was coming through the vinyl sheath.

i kept messing with it mainly because i wanted to test drive my cart, i snapped the cable from tightening the bottom nut to much . i bought new one from amazon. got it in 2 days. now i am having issues adjusting this **** thing.

any thoughts? pointers? i'm sure its simple for some of you but this thing is really pissing me off, i can get neutral and forward pretty dang close and then i cant get reverse to do anything. i almost think there is something messed up in the rear end with the gear selector? not sure ive never pulled one part before. i do plan on doing high speed gears soon so i may have to do it sooner than i thought.

help please and thanks !!!

btw my cart is a EzGo ST Sport with a vegas carts swing arm and Predator big block.

single cable, i wasn't saying it is the governor but a friend said it could be part of the problem. He said i should remove it from the rear end when i do speed gears.

any thoughts on the cable adjustment ? i replaced the cable and it shifts great but i still cannot get it into F-N-R, only 2 of the 3 .

i did not replace the springs or the keepers at the end of the shift cable @ the transaxle, think this could be part of my problem?

Lastly, im not 100 % sure but i think the engine RPM is to high and is part of the problem with shifting, my belt is consistently turning after start up BUT i cant even get the F-N-R while its sitting in the driveway while trying to adjust it. so i need to fix that and the idle
