Default Tightening my starter generator belt

My 1986 ezgo with the 2 cycle engine wouldn't go. Noticed that the starter pulley just spun and the belt was loose. Also noticed that the triangular bracket holding it was cracked all the way through. How does one tighten that pulley? I was going to weld the bracket back together, but was worried it still won't be tight enough. Thanks.

Two of the three brackets on my 85 were cracked once, had to weld them up. But also it had broken the cast aluminum fan housing that had to be welded too, check all of that and you'll be good to go. It's a pretty common thing

Not counting the brackets, is there another way to tighten it, or is it basically just set at a certain spot?

Thanks for first input.

The brackets are the only way to keep it adjusted tight, that's what they're for. Weld em up and make sure you have the right size belt, the proper tension is 3/8" deflection with 20-25 pounds pressure at halfway between pulleys
