Default G16a extra speed

I have governor all the way tightened and stick tires. And ways to get more speed. Without spending any money? Runs about 11 now. Everything a stock. Just a tightened governors.

The condition of the clutches and belt is very important. I think it should run more than 11 with the gov cranked all the way in. The primary may have flat spots on the rollers, and/or the secondary sheaves are worn. Plowmans is the way to go if components need to be replaced. Routine engine maintenance helps, too. Aftermarket china crap isn't the best solution.

what he said

A stock cart, with stock tires, and everything running the way it's supposed to....you should be at 18-20 mph with the governor cranked. With Plowman's performance kit you might be 22-23 mph.

Good luck on fixing a vehicle up without spending money. It just doesn't work that way. If it needs maintenance and repair, like most vehicles do eventually, you will spend money.

Sounds like accelerator cable #1 or #2 are not opening the throttle shaft all the way. They need to be adjusted so they don't open the throttle shaft till the starter turns over the engine, but the allow full throttle when the accelerator pedal is to the floor.

My 99 G16 will do 19 with the governor zip tied and clutch/spring setting set up for pulling hills better.

Could the pedal bring pretty hard to push after about half throttle also contribute? It doesn’t really feel like I get any more throttle after half also.

Check your throttle cables. Look at the carb butterfly and see if it's opening all the way.
