Where could I get this piston from.. engine says 1986 robin..best place to buy one..and should I do the cylinder head at same time while its apart? I am in CANADA if that makes a licking freezing difference... -28 currently..

I gave you the links in post #4 of this thread. There is also a place called vintage golf cart parts. They are not a sponsor, so no link to them is allowed.
Check out the condition of your cylinder before buying. The head bolts to the top of the cylinder. You will reuse that with a new gasket. |

Well took engine out to do the piston..theres no damage to the cylinder or the head..thank god! ordered the parts from vintage as the other place doesnt ship to canada. pics attached and happy new year everyone!

Just remember that the rings go bevel side up. There are alignment pins in the ring grooves. Check your ring end gap before installing.
The square hole in the side of the piston faces the intake. |

Ouch!! Are you sure on a couple of things?
1) Do all of those broken pieces fill the piston breakage? I don't think that was a window on this side of it afterall, it just broke to appear it could be. But there's a good chance of more pieces down in the crankcase, Make dang sure you get them all out. Flush/blow turn upside down and shake while flush/blow some more and repeat several times. 2) With all that come apart pieces flying around you better take another good look at the cylinder walls, maybe post up a few pics of that for more opinions. Glad you're making progress |
