96 DS 48 volt testing sequence
I'm still dead in the water with making this heap go. Not sure what I'm doing but ......
Ok my question is: Is there an order of testing to go through to eliminate where the problem lies? I'm just checking voltages (with digital VM) here and there and not really getting anywhere. A trouble shooting sequence list, such as 1) batteries = 50.4V (OK go #2) 2) Key sw 12v (OK go to #3) 3) solonoid 4) thingamigij 5) etc 6) etc I'm stumped and what I have chased down seems to OK, (my above list is just made up) |

Does the solenoid click when you press the gas with key on cart in gear?
Do you have voltage in and out of the solenoid (on the big posts) if it clicks ? |

Re: 96 DS 48 volt testing sequence
Testing with a voltmeter should be self explanatory if you can read a schematic or wiring diagram:

Re: 96 DS 48 volt testing sequence
The solenoid does not click, I know there is votage to it (tied to the last batt) not sure if on the other side with the go pedal pressed. At work right now and will have to check that out tonight. Can I "jumper" the solenoid to see if that will make it go?

Re: 96 DS 48 volt testing sequence
yes you can jumper across the big terminals of the solenoid to see if that makes the cart go. If it does then you know that you have a solenoid or solenoid activation circuit problem...its a great idea to jump across the solenoid to try to narrow down your problem and give us a place to start with more specific advice.

Re: 96 DS 48 volt testing - UPDATE
here is what I know on this dead cart
Key on - F - go pedal down: * 50V on solenoid large red wire and large yellow wire, both small wires 0v * Motor = 50 V on large blue wire & white wire * micro sw on F-N-R switches test ok * fuse near charger plug OK I hear a click noise coming from the Go pedal, when pressed but nothing from the solenoid. What/how to test next? I believe I have all connections clean |

Fixed it
cart was dead, and everthing was checking out, but still no movement. What I found was a broken lug on the micro switch in the potentiometer on the go fast pedal.
New switch and were all happy again |
